Some Like It Blue

Another item checked off for D*C- Thor’s helmet!  This was another first for me- using pepakura files.  The first one I made was sized wrong, the second one got into Thor Dog of Thunder’s mouth and he chewed it up (I as able to repair it, but the Dog of Thunder was trembling in fear when I found out what he did).  I resined it, used fiberglass cloth, and was dismayed to find I wasn’t as precise as I should have been with the resin, so it wasn’t very smooth.  I used bondo putty over to that and sanded it forEVER.  I recently bought a powersander, and it is SOOO much fun.  It’s a cute little thing called the mouse.  Anyway, even after sanding it forever, it wasn’t going to be perfect, so I gave up and painted it (primer, ground coat, and a couple coats of silver metal car paint).  And here it is!  Now, once again this taught me a lot, and next time I will just be extremely meticulous with the resin, since using putty on all those crevices created some imperfections.  If I have time before D*C I will do another one, hopefully perfecting it, but if not, this one will do.  I don’t plan on wearing it all the time (why would I want to hide the gorgeous locks of Thor? Lopti wishes his hair was as golden and flowing as mine. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s my hair that makes Siffy love me more), but it will make a good prop and add some fun to the photos I think.

Oh, Thor.  If you have to resort to your hair to attract women — well, I suppose your golden locks are quite agreeable.  I, however, have a more… *ehem* manly way of attracting Sif.  

Besides… they tell blonde jokes for a reason.  And I’m fairly certain I know where they originated.
